Marathon County Special Education (M.C.S.E.) was established in 1958 to provide special education and related services to several schools in the Marathon County area. Currently, the department offers programs and services to six rural districts: Abbotsford, Athens, Edgar, Marathon, Rosholt, and Spencer. The department works with approximately 500 students and supervises about 100 staff.
The goal of M.C.S.E. is to ensure all eligible children receive appropriate education opportunities within state and federal laws.
Marathon County Special Education is a consortium of six rural school districts dedicated to providing high-quality special education services to students with disabilities. To make this possible, we recruit and hire highly qualified staff for our schools. Our team takes pride in the services they provide, and they are actively engaged in supporting students and their families every aspect of the special education experience.
