A licensed Director of Special Education, Dr. Kapitz holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, a Master's Degree in School Psychologist, an Educational Specialist Degree in Special Education and Pupil Services, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Dr. Kapitz has over 30 years in education, and she began her career with Marathon County Special Education as a School Psychologist in 1988. Her professional interests include transition support to students with disabilities, system-wide continuous improvement, and capacity building.

Kristin Jacobson is the Assistant Director of Special Education for Marathon County Special Education. A licensed director of special education and pupil services Kristin holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Science in Education and an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. Kristin began her career as a School Psychologist with Marathon County Special Education in 2006 serving first in the Abbotsford School District and later the Marathon School District before moving to the Assistant Director role in 2013. Kristin oversees the special education departments in Abbotsford, Marathon, and Spencer. She is a Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor training adults to support youth experiencing mental health challenges or crises. Kristin's professional interests include comprehensive school-based mental health, supporting special educators in their respective roles, continuous improvement, and family engagement.

Jason Haluska is the Assistant Director for Marathon County Special Education and works in the Districts of Athens, Edgar, and Rosholt. A licensed director of special education and pupil services, Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Science in Education, and an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. Previously Jason worked as a School Psychologist in Minnesota and Wisconsin since 2010. Jason also served as an adjunct professor at St. Mary's University of Minnesota, educating adult learners working to obtain a Master's degree in Special Education. Jason previously worked in a residential treatment setting for children and adolescents, offering behavioral management, rehabilitation, and transition services. Jason's professional interests include behavioral modification, supporting special educators in their respective roles, trauma-informed care, and supporting positive mental health initiatives
